NOTD: Sally Hansen- Byte

Hello Everyone!


Can you believe this is my very first Wednesday post that's about a pink polish? Completely coincidental, I assure you.

Byte is a gorgeous medium pink jelly polish flooded with blue reflecting glass fleck particles. This polish would be great for layering, but I wanted to show you her in her pure form so you can fully appreciate her beauty. I used three coats of Byte to achieve opacity.

I really love this whole HD collection that sally Hansen did. I think there are only 1 or 2 I didn't end up getting.

I have something shocking to tell you. I have never been a fan of red nail polish. I've always thought it was boring and old fashioned. I'm just generally not a fan of red at all. That is, until recently. I've learned it's about finding the right shade of red to work with my skin tone. Personally, I prefer blue based reds. I find the orange leaning reds draw out the yellow tones in my skin and make me look jaundiced. If you've been following my blog you will know I'm a jelly lover. I don't know how any polish lover could resist a gorgeous jelly. That is just what I have for you today, a red jelly polish.

Sally Hansen Cocktail Party was a huge surprise to me. I originally picked up the bottle thinking, "meh, just another red". At the time I didn't have many reds so I decided to pick it up. Boy was I surprised the first time I wore it. It's a jelly, and not only that, it's a very well pigmented jelly. The picture shown below is 2 coats Cocktail Party with no top coat, yep she's that shiny on her own.

Reminds me of a perfectly coated candy apple. Ugh, I'm in love. What was I thinking not liking reds? This red is certainly not boring.

Part Deux: Essie Coat Azure

I hope you all had a fabulous holiday season. Around the holidays I'm so busy I don't always get to do a whole new mani as often as I'd like. What's a girl to do? Between holiday shopping, meeting with friends that are coming home for the holidays, and family gatherings I was exhausted this year (and perhaps a little lazy). I will admit on occasion I will "spice up" a day old mani. It makes me feel like it's shiny & new. My favorite ways to spice up manis are to add a glitter top coat- like China Glaze Fairy Dust- or to add a french tip or a little bit of stamping. I did the latter in this case. You all remember my post on Essie Coat Azure, right? This polish just begged to be stamped so I obliged. I used my Bundle Monster stamping plate number BM14, Sally Hansen Chrome Nail Makeup in Sapphire Chrome, and Wet n' Wild French White Creme. Here are the results over two coats of Essie Coat Azure.  I left the picture huge so go ahead and click for more detail.

NOTD: Grey Halloween Skulls

This NOTD is from awhile back. I got tired of summer colors in August so I decided to do a Halloween themed mani. For this mani I used two plates from the BundleMonster 25 piece set. I also used Love & Beauty (found at Forever21) Grey as the base color, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Concrete with BundleMonster image plate BM-201 for the background image and Zoya Kelly with BundleMonster image plate BM-211 for the skull.

I purchased my BundleMonster image plates from Amazon. They're truly a fantastic deal but if you're new to stamping please note they do not come with a stamper or a scraper. 

Sally Hansen Extreme Wear Night Lights

First of all please excuse my tip wear. I made spiced pumpkin syrup from scratch last night after I did my nails which trashed my mani. Cutting up pumpkins is not a mani friendly activity. Anyways, on to the polish...

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Night Lights. Night Lights is a sheer charcoal jelly base loaded with wonderfully sparkly holo glitter. The picture shown is one coat of Night Lights over two coats of China Glaze Liquid Leather. Liquid leather is a semi jell black polish.  I adore Liquid Leather. It is my favorite black polish. It dries incredibly shiny even without top coat. I decided to layer Night Lights over Liquid Leather because I thought the darkness and opacity of Liquid Leather would really make the lovely holo glitter in Night Light pop. As you can see in the pic, each individual jewel of holo glitter is screaming for your attention. It's even more stunning in person. No comps this time because I do not have anything that would hold a candle to Night Lights. Truly a polish to make any polish junkie speechless.
